Left Out of Jones Walker Merger, Ex-Watkins Ludlam Shareholders Sue Former Firm

Former Watkins Ludlam Winter & Stennis shareholders F. Hall Bailey and Vikki Taylor have sued the Jackson, Mississippi–based firm and its board, claiming they were cut out of a planned merger with New Orleans–based Jones Walker and offered "grossly inadequate consideration" for their Watkins Ludlam stock.

Skadden, Sullivan & Cromwell, and Weil are playing key advisory roles on Monday's Chapter 11 filing by commodities and financial derivatives broker MF Global Holdings, the eighth-largest bankruptcy in U.S. history. Eight firms, including S&C and Wachtell, appear on a list of MF Global's largest unsecured creditors, while SIPC has appointed a Hughes Hubbard & Reed partner as liquidating trustee for MF Global's brokerage.
